MTMGMA Listserv Introduction

This listserv is provided to members of MTMGMA. Thank you for being part of the MTMGMA Member Community! The purpose of the listserv is to enable members of MTMGMA to communicate with one another, ask questions, receive responses and advice.  This listserv provides support, as we are all managers and leaders in the healthcare industry and often rely on each other for help in our positions and companies. The listserv is a great way to solicit the advice of your peers, benefit from their experience, and participate in an ongoing conversation.

To ensure the best possible experience for all Listserv members, we have established some basic guidelines for participation.  By using this listserv, you agree that you have read and will follow the guidelines set forth below. You also agree to reserve list discussions for topics best suited to the medium. In order to preserve a climate that encourages both civil and fruitful dialogue, MTMGMA reserves the right to suspend or terminate subscription access for members who violate these terms.

MTMGMA Listserv Instructions

After an individual joins the association, they are immediately registered for MTMGMA’s Listserv. New members will receive an email with an access link. Members may also access the Listserv and archives from MTMGMA’s website.

How to create a new post:

First Method:

  1. Click the Listserv link.
  2. Enter "MTMGMA" under organization’s URL.
  3. Enter your email and verification code (which will be sent to your email address).
  4. Select “New Topic” on the upper right-hand corner.

Second Method:

  1. Send an email to [email protected]. If you are a Listserv member, your email will be distributed to all other Listserv members.

How to reply to a post:

  1. To reply to a post/email, you may directly reply to the email notification you receive in your inbox.
  2. Or, you may access the Listserv, select the topic you would like to reply to, and fill out the reply bubble on the bottle of the post.

How to Access past topics/archives:

  1. Click the Listserv link.
  2. Enter "MTMGMA" under organization’s URL.
  3. Enter your email and verification code (which will be sent to your email address).
  4. You may search the archives by using the search feature in the right-hand corner or by scrolling down.

How to change your personal delivery options:

You have options on how you receive messages to your inbox. You may have each post emailed to your inbox, you may have a daily summary sent, or you may select no emails, and read all posts online. To change your preference, login to the ListServ and edit your delivery options on the right-hand side.

MTMGMA Listserv Code of Conduct

Your decision to participate in the MTMGMA Member Community ("the Community") indicates that you have read and accept, without limitation or qualification, this Code of Conduct. You acknowledge that you are solely responsible and can be held personally liable for your Postings and agree to abide by the following:

  1. The Community is governed by this Code of Conduct and MTMGMA Antitrust Compliance Guidelines.
  2. Community members’ opinions are expressed strictly in their individual capacities, and not as representatives of MTMGMA.
  3. We will not be liable for any errors or omissions, loss or damage of any kind incurred as a result of any content posted on the Community. You must evaluate and bear all risks associated with the use of any content, including any reliance on the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of such content.
  4. MTMGMA may monitor the Community, although we have no obligation to do so. We do not pre-screen or regularly review posted content but reserve the right to remove at our discretion any content that we believe violates this Code.
  5. We strictly prohibit defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive and illegal content and actions.
  6. All postings, commentary and messages are subject to libel, slander, copyright and antitrust laws.
  7. We reserve the right at all times to disclose any posting and the name of its original poster when we believe such disclosure is appropriate to comply with the law (or a court order or subpoena); to prevent or investigate a possible crime or other violation of law; or to protect your rights, property or safety or the rights, property, or safety of the MTMGMA Entities or others.
  8. Participants are required to provide complete and accurate information when they register for the Community, including their name and verifiable e-mail address. If there is a substantive change in your registration information, you agree to update your information. You may not transfer your account to others.
  9. We reserve the right at our discretion to suspend or terminate Community access to participants who we believe have violated this Code.

Violation of the Code of Conduct and/or Terms of Use

We will investigate any complaints of possible policy violations that come to our attention and take any action that we believe is appropriate, including, but not limited to issuing warnings, removing content and terminating accounts and/or subscriptions. However, because situations and interpretations vary, we also reserve the right to take no action.

If you see what you believe is inappropriate content in the discussion forums, resource libraries or member profiles, notify MTMGMA.

If you believe that any materials published in the Community infringe the copyrights of others, please notify MTMGMA.

In March 2009, the MTMGMA Board of Directors approved the following "Three Strikes" Policy outlining consequences for participants who violate these Terms of Use:

  1. Upon the first violation, the participant will receive a written warning from an MTMGMA staff member.
  2. A second violation will result in a three-month suspension from the Community.
  3. A third violation will result in immediate and permanent suspension of all Community privileges.

Community Etiquette

  1. Include a signature tag on all messages. Include your name, affiliation, location, and e-mail address.
  2. Make your subject line as concise and specific as possible. This makes it easier for people to respond appropriately and to search the archives by subject.
  3. Include only the relevant portions of the original message in your reply. Delete any header information and put your response before the original posting.
  4. Only send a message to the entire list when it contains information that benefits everyone.
  5. Send messages such as "thanks for the information" or "me, too" to individuals--not to the entire list. Do this by using your e-mail application's forwarding option and typing in or cutting and pasting in the e-mail address of the individual to whom you want to respond.
  6. Use the listserv to tell MTMGMA members about upcoming continuing education or networking events which may be of interest.
  7. Please respect the "closed" atmosphere of the Community. Do not forward, cc, or bcc, messages to nonmembers without prior written permission from the poster.
  8. Don't attack. The listserv is meant to stimulate conversation, not to create contention. Contradictory opinions are welcomed, but always be thoughtful and respectful rather than sensational or angry.
  9. Please refrain from posting any material that could be viewed as offensive to any group of people or organization.
  10. Don’t post messages that you wouldn’t want the world to see or that you wouldn’t want traced back to you. The Community maintains a permanent record of your posts.
  11. Commentary is allowed as it pertains to any given topic of discussion. Personal remarks about the sender are not allowed.
  12. Please confine personal “soapbox” type opinions to your own website, blog, or mailings.  As in all professional settings, please avoid political, religious, and sexual references. The Listserv is not the appropriate forum for those types of emails.
  13. When using an Auto Reply message for times you are out of the office, please be sure to "Create a Rule" (this is easily done with Microsoft Outlook’s Out of Office Assistant) that would prohibit sending the message to the list.
  14. Please be careful as to any attachments you send.  We do not have the ability to strip an attachment to an email on our Listserv, but we do not want to expose members to any computer or web viruses.  If an attachment is unnecessary, remove it before sending.

Community participants may not:

  1. Harvest e-mail addresses or other personal information from the Community, as the success of the listserv relies upon our ability to maintain members’ privacy.
  2. Post commercial messages, including solicitations for money, goods or services for charitable purposes or private gain.
  3. Distribute any SPAM, solicitation, jokes, chain letters, petitions for signatures or letters relating to pyramid schemes, missing persons, or once-in-a-lifetime deals.
  4. Submit postings relating to actual or potential anticompetitive, collusive, or otherwise unlawful practices that may violate federal and state antitrust laws or MTMGMA Antitrust Compliance Guidelines. Messages may not encourage or facilitate members to arrive at any agreement on the following subjects: prices, discounts or terms or conditions of sale; salaries; commissions; profits, profit margins or cost data; or selection, rejection or termination of customers or suppliers.
  5. Submit any Postings that violate or infringe upon the rights of others or that you do not have the right to make available. This includes material that constitutes an invasion of privacy or infringement of publicity rights or which is protected by copyright, trademark or other proprietary right, or derivative works thereof, without first obtaining permission from the owner or right-holder.
  6. Submit any false, misleading, or fraudulent Postings.
  7. Use the Community to promote advocacy efforts that are not sanctioned by MTMGMA or to gather information or data to support advocacy efforts without first obtaining our prior written authorization.
  8. Use the Community to communicate with potential participants in formal research of any kind, or to conduct market research, surveys, or academic studies without prior approval of MTMGMA.
  9. Warn other list subscribers of lengthy messages either in the subject line or at the beginning of the message body with a line that says "Long Message."
  10. Use the listserv to invite the entire list to join your social network (Facebook, Myspace, Linkedin, etc). You may invite individuals to join your network but may not invite the entire list.
  11. Send administrative messages, such as "remove me from the list", through the listserv. To unsubscribe from the list, follow the directions at the bottom of the listserv email message.
